You know, I've always wanted a nice leather stachel. Just a little one - not quite a handbag, not quite so cumbersome as a rucksack, but practically sized to hold the essentials with a nice, scholarly feel. A cursory glace at any reputable satchel retailer, however, is enough to make the eyes water and one's wallet seem to shrink. Thus, in a moment of senseless retalliation, I decided that the only way forward was to do it myself.
I learned a lot from that first project, and I know now of many things that I would have done differently in the process, but it still stands as one of the things I'm most proud of having ever made.
Image 1: A hand dyed leather sheath, with belt loop, made to hold not a knife, but a garden trowel. I made this in 2021 as a commission (a birthday present, I believe), and when the breif said "her favourite colour is bright purple", I saw that as a challenge.
Image 2: A molded leather case, made for fountain pens. As a passionate pen collector, I wanted to make myself a proper, sturdy case that would protect my pens during my commute between the office and home. It's been in use daily ever since, and I'm currently working on version 2, to accomodate slightly larger pens.
Image 3: An experiment with different dye technigues (top secret!), to make a lovely pastel gradient, on a rebound notebook. Also one of my early experiments with stamping; a little jumping fox, that I designed and 3D printed.
I'm also particularly proud of my gift wrapping if you couldn't tell.
